- The first layer is unable to adhere properly to the build plate.
Once the exposure for the first layer is completed, the model does not stick to the build plate. Instead, it may attach to the release film and detach as the resin tank moves, or it may simply float in the resin.
- The layer separates when printing.
Although the first layer adheres properly, after two to five layers are printed, the upper part of the model begins to detach from the first layer. In some cases, specific areas, such as one edge, gradually curl up and lift away from the build plate.
- Residual cured resin and dirt on the build plate and resin tank leading to leveling issues and suspended situations.
- The build plate automatic leveling did not succeed and result in the following consequences.
- The build plate may not be properly aligned, or the build plate is not installed correctly.
- The irregular gaps on the build plate lead in poor inter-layer adhesion in certain areas. When the gap is too large, curing is insufficient, and when it is too small, the model gets squeezed and deformed.
- The distance between the build plate and the release film exceeds the thickness of the resin curing layer. This makes it impossible for the resin to cure and adhere to the build plate.
Note: The first layer typically should be between 0.1 mm and 0.2 mm.
The solutions are siutable for Saturn 4 series and Mars 5 series.
¶ Step 1. Pre-process: clean the resin tank and build plate.
Clean thoroughly the build plate and the nozzle. Make sure that the surfaces are free of any residual objects, such as leftover resin and dust to avoid impacting debugging and the printing quality.
Refer to the video tutorial below and manually fine-tune the build plate to complete the basic calibration.

GCODE
Download the corresponding firmware patch file. Copy the file directly to the root directory of the USB flash drive.
Note: Copy and paste the file without creating or putting it into any folder. Do not modify the file name.
- Insert the USB flash drive into the printer.
- Update the firmware.
a. For Saturn 4 and Mars 5: restart the printer and the firmware file will be automatically updated.
b. For Saturn 4 ultra, Saturn 4 ultra 16K and Mars 5 ultra: click Print to update the firmware.
- After the update is complete, remove the USB flash drive and restart the printer again.
- Refer to Step 2 to re-adjust the build plate.
If the issue persists after the above operations, refer to the video below to manually adjust the overall levelness of the build plate.

Note: The automatic leveling printer cannot add flexible boards to the build plate.
